An inspirational leader with more than 16 years of experience in the anti-violence against women field and a respected credible voice, Harmy earns a seat at the table wherever she serves. Harmy has led WomanACT through a series of crucial changes, including becoming a charitable organization and the envisioning, planning and creation of the WomanACT’s Soul of a Warrior Awards. Harmy holds an MA from Ryerson University.
Lieran has been working in community and international development with a focus on women’s rights and gender justice for the past 13 years.
Lieran has been working in community and international development with a focus on women’s rights and gender justice for the past 13 years. Lieran began her career in the U.K. as a women’s advocate and went on to manage several women’s centres across the north of England. Lieran brings to the team experience in gender-based analysis, program design and management, and research and policy. Prior to joining WomanACT, Lieran was a Gender Specialist in the international development field working on gender-based violence and education programs in West Africa and the MENA region.
Jessica holds a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Governance from Ryerson University and a certificate from York University in Public Policy Analysis.

Her academic career has focused on social justice, gender equity and policy studies. Throughout her career, Jessica has worked primarily in the non-profit sector coordinating programs, on a personal mission to advance the social, political and economic position of women and gender-diverse peoples in Canada. In her spare time, Jessica supports public sector and private organizations to strengthen individual and organizational capacity to address racism and gender inequity by addressing structural inequalities.
Priya has a decade of work experience in the Violence Against Women Sector in various systems and communities, including in Nunavut and the U.K.
Priya has a decade of work experience in the Violence Against Women Sector in various systems and communities, including in Nunavut and the U.K. Her work experiences include front-line delivery in shelters, community outreach, program management, research and strategic coordination.
She has served in roles that focus on supporting marginalized communities and promoting gender equity in Canada and the U.K. Priya has an M.Sc. in Mental Health & Population Health Research. Prior to joining us, Priya was a Regional Development Officer for Women’s Aid in the U.K. and worked as part of a Sustainability Partnership supporting VAW services.
Alissa is a research and policy professional focused on the social determinants of health and healthy public policy.
Alissa is a research and policy professional focused on the social determinants of health and healthy public policy. Prior to joining WomanACT, Alissa worked at a Toronto-based think-tank conducting applied research and policy analysis on supportive housing, public transportation and pedestrian safety. Her career has also included roles in the academic and non-profit sectors working to translate public health evidence into equitable policy impact. Alissa holds a Master of Public Health in Health Promotion from the University of Toronto.
Ramona graduated with a MSW in Romania and previously worked in foster care and international adoptions.
Ramona graduated with an MSW in Romania and previously worked in foster care and international adoptions. She participated in developing the first foster-care project in Romania. Since immigrating to Canada in 2002, Ramona has worked in the child welfare field, with a special interest in woman abuse and trauma-informed practice and a focus on partnering with community agencies and stakeholders to deliver excellent services that lead to better outcomes for children and families. Ramona is currently the Director of Intake at the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto.
Amninder has more than 15 years of experience in personal and commercial banking, capital markets, finance, corporate planning, client acquisition and management.
Amninder has more than 15 years of experience in personal and commercial banking, capital markets, finance, corporate planning, client acquisition and management. He has held senior positions, including Vice President – Insurance and Investments for a boutique wealth management firm, and Principal Consultant in the area of capital resource management.
Amninder has a BA from the University of Toronto in International Development Studies, with a specialization in Development Economics. Amninder has also furthered his studies and met licensing requirements through the Canadian Securities Institute and Financial Services Commission of Ontario. He is currently pursuing a specialized degree in psychology and mental health from the University of Toronto.

Kim Duong has been practicing insurance defence litigation since 2006. Her involvement in charitable work, including participating on boards at both the provincial and national levels, began in her undergraduate college days. While she hails from the Northwest Territories, she has spent the last 13 years establishing roots in Toronto. Wherever she has lived, she has always placed a great emphasis on being actively involved within her surrounding community.

She has held finance leadership and managerial positions across different industries. Her extensive experience includes areas of budgeting and forecasting, strategic planning, management reporting and financial analyses of large-scaled projects.
Miriam has an MBA with full accreditation from the University of Toronto. For her master’s degree, she specialized in corporate finance and accounting. She also holds certification in taxation along with academic research in the area of business law at Carleton University.

Hudah has always been active in taking initiatives to improve local neighbourhoods socially and spatially. One of these initiatives include serving as a board member at a local daycare and serving as a panelist in one of the local planning groups. Through work and academics, Hudah has developed an extensive understanding of the intricate relationship between physical environments and health. Hudah has a specialized diploma in Social Work, an honours degree in Geography and Urban Studies and is currently pursuing a postgraduate degree in Public Administration at York University.

For the past two decades, Patricia’s education and career have revolved around her passion for human rights, which has been channeled through her work in social-service organizations in Brazil and Canada. Patricia has extensive experience working with survivors of gender-based violence through her roles in multiple community-based organizations in Toronto. Patricia has been working at the Barbra Schlifer Clinic for the past eight years. She is currently working as a project coordinator of a multi-year project funded by Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE) called guiding systemic responses to gender-based violence survivors through risk assessment.
